Mauricio E. Pons, M.D.
Dr. Mauricio Pons received his medical degree from
the National University of Cuyo, School of Medicine
in Argentina in 1994.  He completed his internship at
Grace/Sinai Hospital in Wayne State University in
Detroit, Michigan and his ophthalmology residency
at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary, New York,
NY.  

Dr. Pons did a Glaucoma research fellowship at The
New York Eye & Ear Infirmary, a Retina Research
Fellowship at the Kresge Eye Institute in Detroit
Michigan and a Surgical Vitreo-Retinal Fellowship at
the University of Southern California, Los Angeles,
CA. Dr. Pons has published extensively in medical
journals on his research in Glaucoma, and diseases
of the Retina and Vitreous as well as medical
textbooks for health professionals.  

He has presented at the Association for Research in
Vision and Ophthalmology, the Retina Society and
the American Academy of Ophthalmology annual
meetings. He is also a recipient of the Louis J. Girard
M.D. Award for excellence in research in
ophthalmology at The New York Eye and Ear
Infirmary in 2004, the American Society of Cataract
and Refractive Surgery/Medical University of South
Carolina excellence in research award, May 2004
and the Annual Prize of the Argentina Society of
Ophthalmology to the best scientific work in 2005.
